Pharma Nord Bio-Glucan Primmuno contains beta 1,3/1,6 glucans, which have a natural priming effect on the innate immune system.

There are two parts to our immune system; the acquired and the innate. Through immunization or infection, our acquired immune system develops antibodies to foreign organisms. This, however, is our secondary line of defence, fighting off 1 in 100 intruders. The innate immune system is the one we are born with. It is our fast-acting, first line of defence against infectious organisms, fighting of 99 in 100 intruders.

Beta-Glucnans and the Immune System

Bio-Glucan Primmuno contains beta 1.3/1.6 glucans, naturally occurring complex sugars obtained from yeasts and fungi. Supplementation with Bio-Glucan Primmuno helps to maintain a healthy immune system.

Fungicides used in modern agriculture have stripped foods of the beta-glucans that used to be in most foods. Wines, beers and bread, which used to contain significant amounts of beta glucans, are now filtered and refined and their beta-glucans are lost as a result of this process.

The type of glucans used in in Bio-Glucan Primmuno should not be confused with the type of glucans (beta 1.3/1.4 glucans) obtained from cereals such as oats and wheat, which have a different molecular structure and different actions within the body.

Each Bio-Glucans Primmuno capsule contains 250mg of Wellmune WGP (equivalent to 200mg beta 1.3/1.6 glucans) from baker’s yeast, the most active and best documented source of beta 1.3/1.6 glucans.
