Honeybush (cyclopia) is a wild legume found growing in the mountainous cloud and mist belt of the areas near the Indian Ocean coast of the South-Eastern Cape in South Africa . In winter these high mountains are often covered in snow.

 

In spring, its bright yellow, honey-scented flowers combine with other wild flowers to create a tapestry of colour across the landscape.

 

Dutch farmers at the Cape of Good Hope first used Honeybush as a tea in the 18th Century. They probably learnt about its exquisite taste and health properties from the local Khoi-Khoi people.
