Nature's Aid SERRAPEPTASE 60,000iu - 90 Enterically Coated Tablets
Inflammation affects most of us at some stage during our lifetime in both positive and negative ways. Inflammation is a natural response utilised by the body to protect it from invading organisms. Problems occur however when inflammation is not controlled and can lead to a wide array of health problems.
The elusive goal of scientists has been to find a substance free from side effects to reduce pain and inflammation. The search is now one step closer due to the enzyme Serrapeptase, which is being used by physicians throughout Europe and
Asia
.
What is Serrapeptase?
This remarkable enzyme, known as the silkworm enzyme, is actually produced by a friendly bacterium found naturally within the silkworm. The enzyme is utilised by the silkworm to dissolve its protective cocoon without having a detrimental effect on the living cells of the emerging silk moth.
The bacterium responsible for this enzyme is Serratia E15 and the enzyme is also known as Serratia peptidase. The enzyme was discovered in the early 1970’s and is now produced commercially through a fermentation process ensuring that the silkworm population is not affected.
What does Serrapeptase do?
The enzyme is described as a proteolytic enzyme and as such is able to digest certain types of protein. Amazingly, the enzyme only attacks certain forms of dead tissue such as cysts, arterial plaque and scar tissue. Studies have also revealed powerful anti-inflammatory effects of this enzyme without the inhibitory effects on prostaglandins (localised hormones) exhibited by pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory drugs.
It helps with pain reduction by blocking the release of pain-inducing amines from inflamed tissue. This makes Serrapeptase an ideal choice for use with sports injuries, traumatic swelling and post-operative swelling.
Serrapeptase also seems to exert a positive effect on areas where excessive mucus may be a problem improving the health of the respiratory tract in susceptible individuals.
Enterically Coated Tablets.
Serrapeptase is very sensitive to an acid environment and is easily destroyed in the stomach. Therefore enteric coating is used to ensure that this sensitive enzyme is delivered to the intestines prior to being absorbed. Only enterically coated tablets have been used in conjunction with the impressive range of clinical trials.
Non-enterically coated tablets and capsules do not protect the enzyme and consequently those forms are not seen to be as effective.
High Strength 60,000iu
Serrapeptase is a well-tolerated substance with no known side effects and many people find that an initial daily intake of 60,000iu three times a daily to be beneficial, After a few weeks at these levels, levels may be adjusted depending on the individual to just one 60’000iu tablet a day to be effective
